History of the METU Psychology Society

METU Psychology Society was founded under the authority of Middle East Technical University in 1995. It was founded by Suat Ozcagdas who is the present Psychosocial Program Coordinator of Turkish Red Crescendent. We are proud to say that the first national psychology students' congress was held by METU Psychology Society in the first year of its foundation. It is still a tradition in Turkey. From the very beginning of its lifespan, the society organizes regular meetings about the raising issues in Psychology.

One of the most important activity organized by the society is the congress of EFPSA(European Federation of Psychology Students' Association) taken place in Avanos/Turkey in 2002. The theme of the congress was "Disasters and Psychology : The Role of Psychologists in Disaster Situations".

In addition, METU Psychology Society had been responsible for the national psychology students' academic journal for two years between 2001 and 2003.
